Lead Data Engineer

The role
Build solutions that matter
- Explore and understand industrial processes in food, chemicals, and renewables
- Set-up, configure and onboard customers onto our Factry Historian product (cloud/on-prem)
- Turn client challenges into intelligent data models that drive informed decision-making
Lead projects and people
- Lead technical projects from start to finish with customer satisfaction as the north star
- Advise sales people in scoping projects with the right approach
- Guide teammates and keep oversight
- Manage team capacity and communicate workload to stakeholders
- Safeguard budgets, timelines, and SLAs
- Share relevant insights and updates with the COO
Drive customer impact
- Host client workshops to showcase the value of data
- Stay connected to customers post-delivery to ensure they're getting value
- Guide customers toward self-service and best practices
- Spot opportunities for deeper adoption and expansion
- Act as the bridge between product, engineering and the customer
Fuel internal growth
- Work with sales, product, and support teams
- Contribute customer insights to product development
- Help turn one-off solutions into repeatable patterns
What you’ll bring
- A Master's degree in bioscience engineering, civil or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in a data or production-related environment
- People skills to guide others and keep teams aligned
- Solid knowledge of Python, SQL, Linux, and protocols like OPC-UA and MQTT
- Fluent in Dutch and English
- Based in the Ghent region and in possession of a driver’s license
- Prior leadership experience is a plus, but not a must. You have the potential to lead
What You’ll Own
- Build our content engine: chart the strategy, create the calendar, and deliver consistently across TOFU and MOFU, expanding into BOFU later.
- Test and learn: experiment with formats, measure results, and iterate to find what resonates.
- Coordinate content creation: from blog posts to video scripts, manage the process and quality end-to-end.
- Own distribution: amplify content via LinkedIn, newsletters, website, …
- Expand reach: find opportunities to get Factry’s story featured in podcasts, guest articles, events, and other industry platforms.
